Alagoas is one of the 26 federal states. Its capital is Maceió. Alagoas is located in the northern part of Brazil and borders the Atlantic Ocean in the east. It has about 102 cities and 2.822.621 inhabitants.
The state Alagoas is loved by the tourists because of the gorgeous white beaches. Especially the capital Maceió is famous for that.
Another tourist attraction are the sea food sellers who are selling their grilled fish everywhere you are. It smells delicious – and it tastes excellent. When you are there you must try it by yourself. The greatest see food and the most beautiful beach are in Jatíuca – it is a district of the capital.

But not only the beach and ocean are great – also the back – country of Alagoas is well worth seeing. You will find many little fresh – water lakes and rivers with clear water. You can take a guided tour for visiting the tropical rain forest. Not only are the plants - also the foreign animals fascinating the tourists.

After laying at the beach all the time it is time to tour around a bit. You should not miss the great boat tour which brings you out into the ocean to wonderful coral reefs. The attraction is that this reef forms a natural swimming pool when the tide is out. Many tourists get out there and it is organized very well – there is everything you need like drinks and food. But be careful! At the ocean is nowhere shade! The sun is shining all the time on you. It could become very dangerous when you get sick out there. So an important advice is to stay there about an hour but not longer! And do not forget your sun cream. The boats start in Pajucara everyday.

If you are in Alagoas and want to have fun and great nightlife you have to visit the district Jaraguá. It is a very old part of Maceió. In Jaraguá you will find great nightclubs, restaurants, bars and if you like it romantically you can sit down at the dock and watch the waves of the calm ocean.
Another part of the capital – Pontal de Barra – is the beat place for getting souvenirs. It is the district of the fisherman and craftwork. At the little workshops you will find a remembrance for you or your friends at home for sure!

If you travel to Brazil in June you will enjoy the most popular celebration of the year. At the 24th of June there is a big street party in every town of Brazil. In Europe this celebration is known as “Midsummer Day” and “St. John’s Day”. This festival was introduced by the Portuguese. The festivity already starts at 12th of June and lasts till 29th of June.
The atmosphere is always wonderful. It is like the famous Brazilian Carnival – everybody is celebrating outside and enjoys live. At these days it does not matter if you are poor or rich. You can forget your problems for a few hours and just have fun.

New hotels arise and afford a comfortable habitation in Brazil. Also the infrastructure benefits of the many tourists. Alagoas got a very modern and high – tech Airport near Maceió. The architect built a modern complex with giant shopping centers inside. Further the whole Airport “Zumbi dos Palmares International Airport” is handicapped accessible – which is not common in Southern America.
